ARTICLE I
NAME
AND DOMICILE
Section 1
- This organization shall known as MEGALITH NU SIGMA PHI SOCIETY (Megans
Society in the Philippines).
Section
2 -
This is a National Collegiate service fraternity and sorority.
Section 3 -
The members are called MEGANS
Section
4 -
This organization shall adopt the slogan “Megans,
the beautiful, the chief good”, ROSE as its flower and RED, YELLOW
and BLUE as its colors.
Section
5 -
Each chapter shall be named as Mega-Alpha, Mega-Beta, Mega-Alpha Alpha,
Mega-Alpha Beta, and so on respectively following the sequence of the
Greek Alphabet.
ARTICLE
II
OBJECTIVES
Section
1 -
To build a fraternal family whose primary concern is the welfare of its
members.
Section
2 -
To promote a friendly relationship among the youth.
Section
3 -
To trained the youth for future leadership and develop their skills and
potentials.
Section
4 -To
make individuals responsive to the needs of the community, of the
government, and of the other desirable social agencies.
Section
5 -To
integrate Christians and non-Christians in love, harmony, peace and
understanding.
Section
6 -To
worship God and apply His divine truth and order to mankind.
ARTICLE
III
MEMBERSHIP
Section 1
- Membership in this organization shall be granted to any applicant
who pass the requirements prescribed in the By-laws, and who shall be
admitted to the national membership by the entire vote of the members
voting (good standing) at any acceptance rituals.
Section 2
- Honorary membership may be conferred only upon persons ho are
advisers of the society, or as may be deemed as necessary.
Section 3
- Members who have already graduated are qualified to become a
member of the Megans Professional (civic) Group.
Section 4
- Membership in this organization is lifetime unless he (member)
violates some provisions of this Constitution and By-laws, resulting to
this expulsion or resignation from the organization.
ARTICLE
IV
NATIONAL EXECUTIVE BOARD
Section 1
- The national executive board shall be composed of the
representative from different district ruling body.
Section 2
- The election of the seat of the National Executive Board shall be
done by and from among the respective representatives of the District
Ruling Body.
Section 3
- The officers shall consist of the Chairman, two Vice Chairman,
the Secretary-general, Director of Finance, Director of Program and
Activities, Director of National Membership, Auditing Director, and the
Director of Public Affairs and Information.
Section 4
- They will hold office for a period of two (2) years without
re-election.
Section 5
- The representatives to the National Executive Board will meet
every 3rd week of December at scheduled place after the
election of its officer’s except in cases of changes as may be decided
by the officers.
Section 6
- Members of the National Executive Board shall not be allowed to
hold seat in the National Advisory Staff.
ARTICLE
V
NATIONAL ADVISORY STAFF
Section 1
- The National Advisory Staff shall be composed of the officers of
the Mother Chapter, and will hold office for a period of one year except
when re-elected.
Section 2
- No member of the National Advisory Staff shall be allowed to
occupy a seat in the National Executive Board.
ARTICLE
VI
DISTRICT RULLING BODY
Section 1
- The District Ruling Body shall be composed of the representatives
from the different chapters of the organization under its jurisdiction.
Section 2
- The election of the seat in the District Ruling Body shall be
done from among the respective representatives of each chapter within its
district.
Section 3
- The officer shall consist the Chairman, the Vice-Chairman and the
Secretary-general. The Chairman of each District Ruling Body is the
representative to the National Executive Board.
Section 4
- They will hold office for a period of two (2) years without
re-election.
ARTICLE
VII
REGIONAL ADVISORY STAFF
Section 1
- The Regional Advisory Staff shall compose of the former Grand
Megan, Most Eminent Megan and organizer of Chapters within each respective
region.
Section 2
- The election of the seat in the Regional Advisory Staff shall be
done from and among the former Grand Megans, Most Eminent Megans and
organizers in each respective region.
Section 3
- The officers shall consist The Chairman, Vice Chairman,
Secretary-general, and any other seat of office as they deemed is
necessary.
Section 4
- They will hold office for a period of two (2) years without
re-election.
Section 5
- No member or officer of the Regional Advisory Staff shall be
allowed to occupy a seat in the District Ruling Body.
ARTICLE
VIII
CHAPTER PRIVY COUNCIL
Section 1
- The Chapter Privy Council shall be composed of the officers
elected from among the members of the chapters.
Section 2
- The election of the seat in the Chapter Privy Council shall be
done right after the opening of classes of the first semester.
Section 3
- The officers of the Chapter Privy Council shall consist the Grand
Megan/Most Eminent Megan, 1st Vice Grand Megan/1st
Eminent Megan, 2nd Vice Grand Megan/ 2nd Eminent
Megan, Brother/Sister Keeper of the Scroll, Brother Exchequer/ Sister
Keeper of the Purse, Brother Examiner of Accounts/Sister Controller of
Accounts, Brother/Sister Entrepreneur, Brother/Sister Keeper of the Sword,
Brother/Sister Keeper of the Keys, Brother Chronicler/Sister Megan of the
Press.
ARTICLE
IX
MEETINGS
Section 1
- Meetings of this organization shall be held regularly every
_______ day of each month during the school year, at such time and at such
place, as may be decided by the members of the chapter.
Section 2
- Attendance of all members shall be to any meeting, be compulsory
expect when prevented by compelling reasons. Any member absent without a
reasonable causes shall be dealt with accordingly.
Section 3
- Attendance by proxy in any meeting, including civic or social
affair duly sponsored by this organization, shall not be honored.
Section 4
- Special meeting maybe called at any time by the Grand Megan/Most
Eminent Megan on urgent cases only, or upon the written request of at
least one-fifth (1/5) of the total membership of the chapter.
Section 5
- Majority (1/2-1) of all members shall constitute a quorum to
transact a business. However, in urgent cases, thirty percent (30%) of the
total membership shall be considered a majority.
Section 6
- parliamentary procedure shall be observed in the conduct of
meetings.
ARTICLE
X
EXTRA ACTIVITIES AND POWER OF THE ORGANIZATION
Section 1
- The chapter of this organization, at the discretion of her Grand
Megan/Most Eminent, may put up delegates or representatives to any civic
or social affairs.
Section 2
- The society may donate or make contributions to the community for
the good and welfare of the masses.
ARTICLE
XI
PENAL PROVISIONS & INHIBATIONS
Section 1
- No officer or member shall have the right to use the name of the
organization for the commission of any crime neither for any violation of
any law of the Republic of the Philippines.
Section 2
- No officer or member of this organization shall use the name of
the organization to advance his political aims.
Section 3
- All officers discharge of their respective duties shall act in
accordance with the Constitution and By-laws of this organization. Any
willful and deliberate violations of the above, those responsible shall be
held liable up to the extent of the damage or prejudice suffered by the
organization.
Section 4
- Violations of the above mentioned provisions shall be punishable
by suspension, expulsion, or impeachment from ranks as to the case may be.
The decision shall be put into writing and be made by the following set of
officers or ruling bodies:
a.
For members, it shall be the Chapter Privy Council;
b.
For Chapter Privy Council, it shall be the District Ruling Body;
c.
For district Ruling Body, it shall be the National Executive Board.
Section 5
- In case a member of the National Executive Board violates the
provisions of the constitution and By-laws of this organization, he shall
be impeached or removed from his position by the total voting power of the
National Executive Board members. In this case, the National Advisory
Staff shall help in the observance of the judgment and procedures.
ARTICLE
XII
ADVISERS
Section 1
- The chapter may choose and/or select advisers that will encourage
the members to carry out the society’s program and objectives ensuing
the benefits and welfare of the organization.
Section 2
- Selection of the adviser must be voted and approved by the
majority of the members of the chapter.
Section 3
- The adviser shall be observing the rules and regulations
governing the organization.
Section 4
- An adviser may be a faculty member and/ or any person worthy for
advisory responsibilities.
Section 5
- No undergraduate bonafide member shall act as an adviser to the
society except otherwise deemed necessary.
Section 6
- No member of the Regional Advisory Staff shall act as an adviser
of a chapter.
ARTICLE
XIII
OFFICIAL SEAL
Section 1
- The official seal of this organization shall bear the Megalith,
the six (6) rays of the sun, the scroll, the handsclap, and the
society’s signature.
Section 2
- The official seal of this organization shall be preserved for the
exclusive use and benefit of the members. Every member of this
organization is entitled to wear or otherwise display the official seal in
a dignified and appropriate manner. A member shall relinquish such
entitlement upon termination of his membership.
Section 3
- The official seal of this organization shall be procured at the
expense of the society.
ARTICLE
XIV
GENERAL PROVISIONS
Section 1
- All members of this organization shall maintain, respect and
uphold the Constitution and By-laws if this organization, and respect the
Constitution of the Republic of the Philippines.
Section 2
- this organization shall protect and defend any member against
acts of injustice, abuse, and unjust practices of persons in order to
safeguard its integrity and constitutional rights.
Section 3
- All members shall know the provisions embodied in the
Constitution and By-laws of the organization.
Section 4
- In case of doubts in the interpretation and application of the
Constitution and By-laws, it is presumed that duly constituted authorities
of the organization intended rights and justice to prevail.
Section 5
- No part of this Constitution and by-laws shall be reproduced
reprinted, or willfully displayed in public or keep by non-members without
the permission of the National Executive Board except otherwise deemed
necessary. Violations there it shall be deemed punishable by law.
ARTICLE
XV
AMENDMENTS
This Constitution and
By-laws, or any part of it, may be amended, but not to be revised by
majority votes of the delegates present at any convention called for the
purpose. The amendments of the constitution and By-laws shall be done only
when deemed necessary.
ARTICLE
XVI
EFFECTIVITY
This constitution and by-laws shall take effect upon the approval
of the delegates to the 3rd National Convention.
